MobilePD Launches Smartphone App For Long Beach Police Department

Long Beach, CA – June 20, 2013 - MobilePD, nationally-recognized purveyors of law enforcement mobile application solutions, has partnered with the Long Beach Police Department on a consumer-focused mobile application that will help reduce crime in the City of Long Beach.

“This application provides citizens with unprecedented access to information in the most convenient format possible,” said Kushyar Kasraie, co-founder and CEO of MobilePD. “We are excited to play a role in connecting the citizens of Long Beach with their police department and assuring there are no barriers to access of information.”

The Sunnyvale–based start-up was founded in the 2010 and received praise by working with the Santa Cruz Police Department on the first consumer-focused app in the US. MobilePD has since expanded to police departments across the US including top departments such as Mesa, AZ and Worcester, MA.

“We’re extremely excited to release Long Beach PD’s app to the public,” Jamieson Johnson, Vice President of Business Development said. “Long Beach PD is nationally recognized as leading the way in technology and the release of this app puts them even further ahead.”

The Long Beach Police Department, located in southern California, serves a technologically-active community of nearly 460,000. “If you ask anyone on the police force they will tell you that the best asset they have for solving crimes and preventing crimes is public involvement — from neighborhood watch, to people turning tips in and reporting what they saw,” Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster said.

The mobile app will provide access to the police departments online crime maps, videos, photos, social media, and a new departmental blog. In addition, consumers will be able to submit crime tips from their mobile phone and view Nixle alerts.
