MOBILEPD LAUNCHES AUSTIN POLICE CRIME FIGHTING MOBILE APPLICATION IN TIME FOR SXSW.

AUSTIN – Feb. 29, 2016 – MobilePD, Inc., the leading developer of law enforcement and public safety mobile applications, announced that it has partnered with the Austin Police Department to bring it’s crime fighting application to Austin in time for this year’s South by Southwest festival. Entering Austin marks a milestone for MobilePD, as Austin is home to MobilePD, and the Austin Police Department is also the first agency to launch MobilePD’s much anticipated real-time citizen reporting platform.

“We are extremely excited to to launch the Austin PD mobile application,” said Kushyar Kasraie, CEO of MobilePD. “MobilePD was founded on the idea that when a community works together with their police department, true public safety can be fostered. It just happens that in this case, the community we are launching is the one we call home. We can’t wait to see the benefits of this application first hand.”

The Austin Police Department partnered with MobilePD to develop this application in an effort to increase transparency and openness with the community, with the ultimate goal of increasing crime tips and reports from citizens. Austin Police is the first agency to launch MobilePD’s new real-time citizen reporting platform, which allows citizens to submit tips/information to Austin PD’s Real-Time Crime Center. Tipsters can include their GPS location, written text, a photo, and even be 100% anonymous and have a secure two-way chat with Officers. Additional features include an interactive crime map, emergency alerts, access to Austin Crime Stoppers, and APD social media accounts.

MobilePD, an Austin, Texas-based company, first met with Austin PD in late 2014 to discuss APD’s need for a more streamlined approach to receive tips from the Austin community. Since then, MobilePD has developed what is believed to be the most advanced crime tipping platform ever built. “The release of APD’s mobile app is the culmination of years of hard work,” said Kushyar Kasraie. “We set out to build an application that will not only make a community safer, but save lives, and we expect to see these type of results from this app.”

The release of this application coincides with the South by Southwest festival starting March 11th, where nearly half a million people are expected to flock to Austin in attendance. “The APD app will immediately be put to the test during this year’s SXSW,” said Jamieson Johnson, Vice President of MobilePD. “We hope we can play a roll in making this the safest SXSW ever. In the event someone sees a crime occurring, something suspicious, or just wants to receive safety updates, we urge you to download the app and connect with APD.”

The Austin Police Department mobile app is free to download today on the iOS App Store and Google Play Marketplace.
